In This Town is a song about a beautiful little town, a place where everyone wants to live, where everyone’s got your back, no matter who you are, what you do, or what you look like. If you’re going through a hard time - the people will help you through it.

Wanting to capture the essence and importance of close communities, Matt shot some of the footage in his home town, Ermington. Some of the scenes were shot at his buddy Dave’s Cake Shop, at his neighbour’s place who Matt’s known for over 30 years, Castle Hill Boxing Club and at a dear friend Tom’s coffee shop, Laziza CafĂ©.

“One thing I always try and do, is get friends to play cameo roles in my videos. In this one I managed to get my mates Wayne, Tom & Dave little parts, I reckon they get a kick out of it, says Matt.

The first verse is about a much loved old boxer that everyone knows, he’s a little punch drunk & hard to understand, when he walks down the road they still call him “champ”.

The second verse is about a woman who has lost her husband in Iraq, and raising three kids under seven on her own. In her town – she is the hero.

The song was nothing more then an unfinished chorus when Matt first joined Allan Caswell for a songwriting session.

When I played the chorus idea to Allan, it really struck a chord with him, he immediately came up with the line ‘nobodies a nobody in this town,’ that went on to set the tone for the rest of the song. From there, Matt Fell weaved his magic, he worked so hard on this track, sonically it sounds so different to my other albums, I love his production on this song."

In This Town is mixed by world class mixing engineer & producer Paul Lani in the USA and mastered by award winning Paul Stefanidis of Viking Lounge Mastering. Paul also shot and directed the music video for In This Town along with Matt’s previous video, Feels Like Yesterday, nominated for Independent Music Video Of The Year.

Just before Christmas, Matt Cornell returned to Love Hz Studios, where he recorded his latest album Matt Cornell, to film some intimate live performances.

Today he's released the first of those performances, with the song 'What Brothers Do.'

The performance also features Cornell's producer Matt Fell, plus Mike Carr and Andy Horvath.

"From the very first time I heard 'What Brothers Do' I fell in love with it. It totally resonated with me," says Matt Cornell

"Adam Brand introduced this song to me while we were killing some time on a long drive while on tour. A few days after hearing it, I put it in my set and the audience response was instant. People were asking me after shows if they could get a copy of that ‘brothers’ song, so I thought it was a no brainer putting it on this album," he says.

The wait is over! Singer/Songwriter Matt Cornell will release his new album Matt Cornell on September 5.

The album, produced by acclaimed and multi-award winning producer Matt Fell features Cornell's two hit single's 'Days To Remember' and 'Give It To Me' plus the brand new single 'Outta This Town,' along with eight other original songs.

Most recently, Cornell has worked with Adam Brand who is full of praise for this new album.

"Aussie country fans are about to find out what all the buzz is about because this album [Matt Cornell] is full of great songs!" says Brand.

Having already established a reputation as an impressively energetic and engaging live performer, who undertakes the rarely seen practice of playing bass while performing lead vocals, the release of Matt Cornell sees him make a very impressive music statement as a recording artist and songwriter.

Now, as an artist who has found his true home in country music, Matt Cornell takes to the genre's core values with beautifully written new songs and uniquely sublime vocals on this album.

"This album has been almost two years in the making, I've given it my all, it's a great representation of who I am as a person and as an artist. I've collaborated with some amazingly talented people and I'm so proud of this record. These songs mean a lot to me and I hope they touch you in some way," says Matt Cornell.

Cornell established a strong creative bond and friendship with APRA nominated and Golden Guitar winning writer Mike Carr during the album's song writing process. This partnership became one of the key components of Matt Cornell. Other song writing contributors include hit song writers David Lee Murphy, Anthony Smith and Jeffrey Steele.

Matt Cornell is officially released on September 5, 2014 through WJO Distribution in conjunction with Bolder Music Australia.
